Bio

Jason Stanton is a composer, songwriter, and performer. Growing up in Kansas City, Missouri, Jason began his music studies at an early age, and began writing music when he was 9. Composition has always been his musical focus, taking him through several genres and styles and finding a place on the concert stage, the rock stage, and the film screen. Though he has studied and performed on a wide range of instruments, his main performance instruments are guitar, voice, piano, and viola.

Jason received a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition at the University of Missouri, Columbia. During his time there he completed four recording projects sometimes using the name Onion. The third of these (Scream of Consciousness) was featured on the syndicated radio show “Joe’s Blue Plate Special” and distributed online by The Orchard. After leaving Missouri, Jason moved to Long Beach, California where he joined Ché Scott and Ryan Connell to form the band presuming Ed. Though somewhat short-lived, the band performed regularly throughout Long Beach, LA, and Orange County, and released an EP in 2004. After the band dissolved, Jason returned to school and is currently working on a Master of Music at the California State University, Long Beach, focusing his studies on film-scoring.

Jason has studied composition under W. Thomas McKenney, John Cheetham, Justice Mathews, Carolyn Bremer, and Perry La Marca. He currently lives in Long Beach.
